The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE), is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009 which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14 in India under Article 21a of the Indian Constitution

Under the RTE Act, a provision has been made to provide free and strict education to the students. Or the right to education, duties of parents and many other things are not mentioned here.

25 percent reservation under RIGHT TO EDUCATION (ACT)

After the implementation of RTE Act in the country, Maharashtra Government issued a notification in 2012 for its implementation in the state.

The process was offline only in the initial phase. But its implementation was not effective.

At that time, guardians were asked to go to each place and different applications were made at each place. Apart from this, I had no idea about the schools near me, hence initially I did not get any response to my request.

Therefore, after two years, the government took the decision to conduct the process completely online. Initially the online process was implemented on experimental basis in Pune city and area. Next year, the process started being implemented online in the entire state.

After this, only the admission process under RTE 25% reservation received a huge response.

During 2019-20, there are figures of more than 85 thousand admissions taking place in the state. Admissions to about 1 lakh seats in the state are done under RTE. Among them, the largest number is from Pune district.

Here 15 thousand grooms are kept alive or under guard. The data may change from time to time according to school registration and number of students.

The logic for this has been given on the government’s website. Accordingly, students living in the area within the first one kilometer from the school are given priority consideration for vacant seats.

After that, students from distance between 1 to 3 kilometers and more than 3 kilometers are considered.

Ex. The total number of students in a special school is 100. Of these, 25 percent i.e. a total of 25 students can take admission through RTE. At the same time only 25 students are in the waiting list.

So, 15 students living within a radius of 1 kilometer from the school applied for the same. At level 1 to 3 km area, 30 applications will have been received and 20 applications will have been received at 3 km area. In such a situation, applications of all 15 students within 1 kilometer are accepted. After that, students living in other places are considered.
